  • One of the best meals I've had in Houston. Food was exceptional, the service was efficient but not rushed with a nice break between courses. The selection is very good and so tasty. Will definately go back in the future.

  • My husband and I decided to try out this place and were not disappointed. The food was excellent, he had the pork shank, part of their Oktoberfest menu, and I had the schnitzel, and they were both excellent. The pork shank was cooked to perfection - with a deliciously crispy skin, and the schnitzel was tasty and not greasy. The vegetables which accompanied my meal were simply steamed and flavorful. There were 2 between-meal items, the first being an eggplant mousse atop a crunchy flatbread-cracker type item. It was very nice, a little tart, almost as if it had been prepared with tomatillo - a nice surprise. The second was a small scoop of plum sorbet with fresh mint to cleanse our palates. The standout, however, was the foie gras. Instead of the typical brioche (which is fine, as we love this presentation, too) the chef served the foie gras atop glazed apple slices, which were absolutely delicious. The service was attentive and friendly, too. We will be back.

  • This place feels like home to us. Every meal is an adventure with a chance to try great new things or enjoy old favorites.

I had the Oktoberfest Schweinehaxen which was as big as Texas and as tasty as Munich.

  • Went for brunch after having a fantastic dinner just a week prior (because it was that good) and was not disappointed. We had the bottomless mimosas, French onion soup, French toast, and shrimp and grits. We devoured everything and practically licked our plates clean. I rarely finish a meals when I eat out but the food is so good here that it's easy to eat everything because it's prepared so well. We especially loved how the cheese melted perfectly on top of the bread with the French onion soup. The french toast was tasty and the grits were so yummy that I wish I had 10 bowls of it.

I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. They do everything right which is why it's perplexing that it's not crowded all of the time. It's definitely for for foodies.

  • Quiet restaurant with very authentic cuisine that the chef brings from his native Transylvania. Flavors were awesome and presentation was delightful. Wait staff was excellent.

  • Fantastic authentic European cuisine. Owners are from Germany (I think the chef is originally from Transylvania but lived in Germany a long time) and are extremely warm, generous, kind, friendly and passionate about their restaurant. They go above and beyond to please their customers. Food was excellent and the portions were large. Particularly enjoyed the mushroom cappuccino and beet sorbet (which was complimentary to cleanse the palette). This is a hidden gem that I'm glad we found.

  • Found a new favorite restaurant, friends recommend it and went for the first time. it is very hard to impress me with all the new new restaurants in Houston. Not only the fish and appetizers were amazing the wine was very reasonable in price also. Highly recommend and cannot wait to go back.

  • Stopped in for lunch, and ordered a great business lunch special. For $14 I was treated to an above average 3 course meal.

Will check out again for dinner next time.

  • I have been dining at Charivari for years and without fail, they serve interesting, delicious food, and provide exceptional service. Charivari is perfect for lunch, a perfect place to dine with friends or bring business clients. Dinners are wonderful, in a classy, and romantic setting. Thank you Johann and Maria, for providing this wonderful dining experience! I had a special request and the excellent staff was quick to help too.

  • Wonderful European Treat

I have eaten at Charivari several times and each visit it gets better. We ordered from the Houston Restaurant Weeks menu this time and I tried the appetizer of seared Foie Gras which was truly outstanding with a delicate flavor that set up our tastes buds for the entrée; the Maple Cod which was perfectly cooked and delicious. For our dessert I had the Lemon Crème Brule Tart; wonderful. The service and friendliness of the staff were excellent as usual. For a taste of Europe in Houston I haven't found a more consistent restaurant. Everything from the flat iron steak to the schnitzel are always prepared to perfection. The presentation is equally impressive. Highly recommended!

  • Excellent European influenced food

This restaurant has an excellent chef who shows ownership and provides a great selection of European recipies. I can strongly recommend the Vienna Schnitzel with Spätzle. The staff is very kind and professional in providing world class service.

  • Our "go to" restaurant!

This is our "go to" restaurant for special occasions or when we want to dine and converse with friends. It's quiet, service is excellent and the food is thoughtfully prepared. Web site is easy to access. Daily specials are well worth the price.

  • Business Lunch

This is one of my favorite places for a business lunch or an evening dinner with my wife. For starts, it is great that you can park your own car in their lot instead of dealing with a mandatory valet. The owners are very nice, the service is good, and the food ranges from very good to excellent. They have two daily lunch specials that are typically about $10 and $15. The $15 lunch comes with soup or salad, entrée, and sorbet. The table spacing is great - you can have a private conversation without having someone perched over your shoulder.
